Grecians v Magpies...Click here for details

Exeter City had a wasted journey to Dorchester Town on Saturday, when their match was postponed an hour before kick off due to the very heavy rain and poor pitch conditions. Dorchester Town Officials tried in vain to find an alternative venue, but that proved un productive.

Exeter City play Newcastle United next Saturday in the third round of the FA Youth Cup at St James? Park Exeter kick off 1.30pm.

The young Grecians produced a terrific performance to beat Football League side AFC Bournemouth by four goals to one at St James Park last night.

Cheered on by a large vocal and appreciative home support, City produced a fine brand of high tempo attacking football, which kept the Cherries on the back foot for long spells. The visitors also had their moments, but resolute defending and some solid goalkeeping from James Wannell kept the tie on a knife edge up until the break.

City had deservedly opened the scoring after 32mins, with Dean STAMP finishing off a fine passage of attacking play. The cherries were given a life line just before the half time whistle on 43min, when a rare mistake by Neil Martin gifted them the equaliser.

But it was Exeter who raised their game in the second half, and STAMP added his second on 73mins after a terrific through ball by O'Donnell split the Cherries defence.

STAMP completed his hatrick five minutes later on 78mins, after excellent play from Davies and Jake Wannell and then LIAM SERCOMBE rounded off a fine team performance with an individual effort in the 86mins to put the Grecians into the next round.

A great night and a big boost for the South West Counties Youth League
