RHODES EBBS LEAGUE CUP

The outstanding 1st Round ties were played with Mansfield Town and Anstey Nomads progressing through to Round 2. Mansfield had a 3-1 victory over Allexton & New Parks Eagles with Isaac Fisher, Kian Sketchley and Ricco Spencer getting on the score sheet. The Eagles reply coming from William Dunlop. In a 7 goal thriller, Anstey edged out Coalville Town Ravens 4-3 with goals from Corey Armeni, Ethan Ballantine, Finley Jones and Lewis Underwood with the Ravens replies coming from Tom Luker, Tyler Withers and Owain Parker.

In the 2nd Round, Heather St Johns’ Development had a comfortable 6-1 away victory over Blaby & Whetstone Athletic with Jake McLeary (3), Leighton Storer (2) and Marley Spencer scoring. Blabys’ consolation came from a 20 yard free kick from Sam Shenton. Goals from Tesfa Matthew and Josh Peden saw Desford overcome Oadby Owls 2-1 with Ben Parkinson netting for the Owls. Aylestone Park had a 4-0 victory over Carib Sports & Social with goals from Kieran Cooper, Corey Holdom, Kenan Muganda and an own goal. Harborough Town had a 4-1 victory over Lutterworth Athletic with James Lawton (2), Alfie Harris and Josh King netting. The Athos scorer being Joe Peace. FC GNG and Leicester Nirvana went the whole distance and it was GNG finally winning 5-4 on the dreaded penalty kicks after the 2 sides were locked 2-2 after 90 minutes. Scorers for GNG were Mahmood Idrissa and Tim Akinola with Nirvanas’ replies coming from Deen Master and Waled Abdullah.
Ashby Ivanhoe Knights and Allexton & New Parks Hawks will try again on Thursday 1st March as the game was postponed due to an unfit pitch.

NORTHERN DIVISION

No fixtures due to Rhodes Ebbs League Cup

SOUTHERN DIVISION

Allexton & New Parks JFC strengthened their grip at the top of the table as they overcame a stubborn Friar Lane & Epworth 3-0 with Carlos Rodriguez, Caine Beckett and Taylor Carvell finding the back of the net.
