Match reports by Derek Cumner

2024 continued the theme of the previous year with the wet weather causing mass cancellations with only ten games beating the rains

Pride of place must go to Ian McNally at Rockleaze Rangers who organised three of his teams games on their 3g pitch at Hillside Gardens, with games kicking off at 12.30, 2 pm and 3 pm

The Reserve team were scheduled to play at home in the Premier League to leaders Filton Athletic, the A teams game at Cadbury Heath Reserves due to be played at Somerdale was transferred to the 3 pm kick off at Hillside, a game Cadbury were happy to call a home game as they had already played their League match away, the C team game against Bristol Phoenix was moved to the 12.30 slot from the Civil Service Ground with the organised dates being swapped

The Reserves took a point from Filton in a return game from the first game of the season.

Rockleaze took a 37 minute lead thanks to a goal from Joe Hodson a well deserved lead for the home side on the day, this was the half time score

Filton had a chance to equalise in the 51st minute but Kieran Cooper shot wide of the left post

Cooper made amends four minutes later with a through ball to Treydon Merritt who finished in the bottom right corner to equalise

The goalscorer nearly won the game for his side following good work from Cooper when his shot hit the near post

2023 was probably the best year in the history of Filton Athletic going the whole year without losing a League match, their last defeat being November 5th 2022, 3 draws and 22 wins only missing out on a place in the Gloucester County League play-offs by the outstanding form of Avonmouth last seasons Champions

In Division One Rockleaze Rangers A lead the Division by eight points although they have played more games, they only have ten games left because of their 3g pitch, pity we have not got more of these pitches, they had six different marksmen in their 6 1 win in the swapped game with Cadbury Heath Reserves, Walid Aouvil, Jamie Fielding, Jonny Hardiman, James Packer, Cameron Winter and Ashley Osbourne, Dan Kingston netted the Cadbury consolation goal

Goals from Christian Florin and Zak Jepson earned Rockleaze C an odd goal in three victory over Bristol Phoenix Reserves

Two other games were played in the Premier Division with Wessex Wanderers defeating a weakened St Aldhelms side 12 1 on the 3g pitch at Lockleaze Sports Centre, unbelievably there were nine different goalscorers, Dan Linham had a debut to remember scoring four times with the other eight goalscorers being Nathan Price, Ross Churn, Tom Trimble, Joe Egelstaff, Goitom Asfaw, Finley Wills, Zac Sow and Jack Costerton

Southmead CS Athletic are up to fifth place courtesy of a 5 1 home win over Stoke Gifford United Reserves

In the Senior Division St Vallier were one goal short of pole position as they beat Filton Athletic Reserves 5 1, to stay level on goal difference with leaders Mendip Broadwalk Reserves, Jaiden Holver bagged a brace with the other goals coming from Jordan Evans, Callum Cannings and Scott Budding

In a midtable game Stockwood Wanderers Reserves beat Almondsbury Reserves 3 1

Newcomers Saltford Reserves are the new leaders of Division Two in the only game played they beat early season leaders Imperial Reserves 1 0 at Norman Road

Third placed Bedminster Down A edged out AJA Athletic by the odd goal in nine with goals from Garry Beacham 2, Josh Quinn, Jake Toliver and Rhys Murphy

Lewis Carr bagged a brace for Avonmouth A 3 1 winners over Bristol Wanderers with Cameron Ward adding the third
