Sunday 11th May
There is still time to get some more football in when this Sunday 11 May The Chesterfield and District SundayLeague [CDSL] takes over The I Want Pet Foods Ground to stage two finals.
At 1045 Crown Killamarsh and Duckmanton Community compete for the Somersall Financial Management Hutson Cup and then at 2.15pm Clay Cross based Woodthorpe Inn will take on West Killamarsh Chatsworth Cup.
The CDSL will take a small entrance gate of £1 for each game and they are sure to be cracking affairs with the first game featuring Crown Killamarsh who will finish second in league 6 and are averaging 3 goals a game, indeed in the semi final they despatched Furnace Hill Hurricanes 10-2 in a storming 2nd period. Duckmanton Community are from league 7 and leading the table on goal difference from Oxcroft UTD the team they beat 3-2 in the semi final to book there place this weekend. On the goal front they are averaging 5 goals a game in league fixtures. So we should have an attacking game in prospect.
In the 2.15 game Woodthorpe Inn are challenging for the league 4 title and have already reached the Derbyshire Junior Cup Final at Belper Town this season, a game they narrowly lost 2-0. They reached this final through a 4-1 defeat of Newbold and with a stack of games in recent weeks and the coming days this will be a big challenge for the Clay Cross based side, With 78 goals from 18 games this, again, is a side who know where the net is. What a team they will face in West Killamarsh champions of the league above and also romping in over 4 goals a game and only defeated twice in the league, they will be fancying their chances of lifting the silver ware.
Hopefully you can see the excitement in these two games which I think will offer CDSL cup finals at their very best this weekend.
As usual during the day Clay Cross Town FC will have the Tunnel Sports Cafe open serving hot and cold food to keep you going make a day of it and stop for both games!
