The second set of NAPIT LEAGUE fixtures of 2014 was once again decimated by a combination of waterlogged and frozen pitches with just three league games and two Derbyshire Senior Sunday Cup games going ahead and one Junior Cup game. In the Senior Cup Killamarsh Juniors Athletic were comfortably beaten 5-1 by Corner Pin however Clowne Wanderers fared much better with goals from Carl Longmore, who scored twice and Sam Richardson earning them a 3-0 victory over Aston on Trent to join Bank, Sinfin City and Corner Pin in the semi-finals. Success also in the Junior section as Steelmelters reached the semi-finals after two goals from Curtis Birchall plus one each from Dave Kelly and Andy Kelly ended fellow NAPIT side Pilsley’s involvement in the competition, Steelmelters winning 4-2. Awaiting Steelmelters in the semis are either, Woodthorpe Inn, R B Sinfin or FC Chadd 2013.

In the league AFC North Wingfield had the opportunity to go second in NAPIT FOUR if they could win at New Whitt B and that’s exactly what they did with leading goal scorer, former Grassmoor Sports man Andy Woolvern scoring twice, his seventeenth and eighteenth goals of the campaign, leading them to a 4-1 victory, Towndrow and Bates adding goals three and four with D Locke scoring Whitt’s consolation goal.

Clowne Wanderers Reserves beat Newbold Sports by four goals to two and went top of NAPIT FIVE as a result. Four different players found the target for Wanderers, Boyle, Rodgers, Voutsinas and Peake, Brent and Revell replying for Sports. Also in FIVE Gate Inn North Wingfield’s trip to Palterton proved to be more than worthwhile as they ran out winners by seven goals to one. D Kirk and J Frakes were Gate’s main men, both hitting trebles with P Bonsall also on target.
