Scaffolding reach new heights as they top the Rafters

Manager Steve Dean had the luxury of possibly his strongest squad available so far this season with some key players returning from injury and holidays with only Aaron Todd still not available with still seven days of his suspension still to serve . The subs bench contained some class players who could command a regular place in any team including Christie Elliott, Chrissy Sinclair, Jonny Matthews and Darryll Donnelly. Darryll Donnelly and Craig Lowther were unfortunate to miss out on a run out but manager Steve Dean is expected to start with all the players who were substitutes in next weeks cup match against Simonside Arms.

The first half remained goal less with the back four of Dan Smith, David Mullen, Wayne Henry, and Micky Urwin remaining resolute and never really looking likely to concede with Ryan Docherty looking confident in goal.

In the second half Christie Elliott returned from injury replacing Declan Tilson and an immediate impact was made with Elliott setting up Brian Johnson who cut in from the right wing to fire in a shot which the Rafters keeper could only parry and Dave Smith pounced to fire home. On a rare attack Rafters managed to score when the ball eventually fell to the Rafters centre half Paul Wilkinson to poke home.

The Rafters goal seemed to inspire Robertsons in to action and after some tight offside decisions Stevie Stephenson managed to lose his marker and rifle home a shot from over 25 yards giving the Rafters keeper no chance. Jonny Matthews returned from injury to replace Brian Johnson on the wing and Chrissy Sinclair returned to action after a two game break to replace Dave Smith. Dan Purvis had a particularly good game and looked to be enjoying his more forward role linking up with Micky Urwin on the left.

Ian Hudson who Rafters seemed to pick out as the danger man was closely marked but they could not cope with his surging runs and Chrissy Sinclair added a bit extra bite in midfield. Christie Elliott was enjoying his free role in front of the midfield and behind the striker and he wrapped up all three points to make it 3-1 when he made a crunching tackle to win the ball and fire home an unstoppable shot. The goal from Elliott kept up his impressive record of scoring in every game he has played in this season for Robertsons.
