UNBEATEN RUN CONTINUES
Ryan Docherty made his debut in goal for Robertsons in this fixture, this meant Aaron Todd could revert back to his more accustomed role upfront, and it was decided to rest Dave Smith who has been carrying a troublesome knee injury but he still made himself available as a sub in case he was needed. Stevie Stephensons ban ends after this game and so it will be a welcome return to the fold next week for him. Dan Purvis injured a foot so was unavailable so David Mullen returned to the centre of the defence with Darryll Donnelly reverting to fullback.

The opposition were one of the teams who came up with Robertsons and have had a reasonable start to the season. The first half proved to be mainly one way traffic as Robertsons laid siege on the Mariner goal with the Mariner keeper making some fine stops. Aaron Todd was brought down for a stonewall penalty and with regular penalty taker Stevie Stephenson unavailable Ian Hudson volunteered to take the spot kick which he clinically dispatched giving the keeper no chance.

The second goal was a true gem from outside the box from Aaron Todd. So it finished 2-0 at halftime. Chrissy Sinclair was feeling ill and Jonny Matthews was feeling the affects of an injury so they were replaced at halftime with Declan Tilson and Craig Lowther.

In the second half Robertsons started slowly and allowed the opposition to get back into the game when they scored from a quickly taken free kick, when the wall were still retreating and waiting for the referees whistle. Declan Tilson after some great build up play down the left by Brian Johnson restored the two goal advantage. The Mariner were given a lifeline when they were awarded a goal after a clear foul on Ryan Docherty when he had two hands on the ball only to have it bundled out of his grasp. Docherty did not let this get to him as he produced a very assertive performance on his debut.

The ever reliable Christie Elliott made the points safe with his customary goal which he seems to get in every game. Robertsons should maybe have won by a greater margin but for some good stops by the keeper and some poor finishing.

There were some fine performances from Dan Smith, Darryl Donnelly, Brian Johnson and Wayne Henry but Ian Hudson had a most commanding game and deservedly was given star man by the opposition
