Sunday League Report ? 11/11/07

Whiteleas continued their impressive run with a hard fought 2-1 win over PAC Builders. Leas took the lead when Stephen Edmond finished from close range after a great move down the right by full-back Kenneth Elgar. PAC then staked their claim in the match when a good move down their right which saw striker David Bonholme skip past two defenders to slot home the equaliser. A 1-1 scoreline would probably have been a fair result, but again a resiliant Whiteleas were not finished and with five minutes left on the clock Neil Archbold finished from close range to hand Leas all three points. Credit must go to both sides produced an excellent competitive game and observed the minutes silence with great attitude.

Fad Continentals have played well all season without getting the rewards their efforts have deserved, it must have been very pleasing for them therefore to come out on top against a very useful Jarrow Deneside team. Two goals apiece for Daniel Rogers and Adam Smith saw them home 4-3. Peter Kane (2) and Lee Buglass replied for Deneside.

In the A division clash between Hebburn Iona and Jarrow Ellison it was Iona who came out on top in a 7 goal thriller. Daniel Grey gave Iona the perfect start as he netted in the first minute. However within minutes Ellison were back on terms as Stuart Lane fired home from close range. With both sides pressing strongly it was Iona who again went in front with a well taken effort from Joe McCaffrey. It was then Ellison?s turn to get on top as they scored twice in a minute through Gary Taylor and a second for Daniel Grey to take the Jarrow lads into the interval 3-2 ahead. The second half continued in much the same vein as the first with both sides creating plenty of chances but it was Hebburn Iona who took theirs, and two second half goals from Joe and James Bellingham saw Iona take all three points after running out 4-3 winners.

In the B division Vigilants poor start to the season has taken a turn for the better after a second victory on the trot saw them come out on top 8-0 against a luckless Mariner. A hat trick from Chris Robson and a brace from Colin Metcalf set them on their way with singles being added by Malcolm McAulay, Mark Wightman and Chris English.
