New signing Brian Johnson front row second from end with some more of Robertson players in the early days with Jarrow Falcons

The whole of the Robertson squad were bitterly disappointed with the postponement of this weeks fixture against Marsden probably with the exception of Stevie Stephenson who will look on it as one less game he will miss due to suspension.

Steve Dean will use a friendly game against Wardles from the Sunday afternoon Business Houses league to help finalise his team selection for the game against coincidently Wardles Sunday morning team who are the next opposition in the league.

The Wardles game on Thursday will give a chance of a run out for new signing Brian Johnson who eventually signed this week from Pac Builders after realising that Robertsons are a team that looks like they are a team going somewhere. Brian is well known to the majority of the squad playing for many years with Jarrow Falcons as a junior and playing presently with Jarrow under 21s and South Tyneside College who many of the Robertson lads play for. It will also give the other new signing David Ridley a bit of a run out as he steps up to senior level football. With the signing of young players like Ridley it shows Steve Dean is already thinking to the future as he sees the potential in these types of young players.

Match Result Robertson Scaffolding 3 Wardles 2

Robertsons won this encounter 3-2 it was actually a lot more comfortable than the score line suggested.

It was a good run out with Jonny Matthews getting two and Craig Losh Lowther the other one. Brian Johnson did his chances no harm of getting a start on Sunday at all in a good debut.

With Stevie Stephenson suspended, David Mullen away on holiday and Ian Hudson recovering from an operation on his wrist there will be a number of changes from the last game but Steve Dean is confident he has the players at his disposal to continue the impressive start to the season. Chrissy Sinclair took a nasty knock on his ankle so it is hoped he will have recovered in time.

So hopefully it will be a double over the two Wardles in a week.
