AFC Chickenley 2-1 Drighlington FC

AFC Chickenley won a close affair with Drighlington FC in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Beck Lane.

There was limited chances created in the first half with both teams committed to the cause. On twenty two minutes, there was some god play on the left wing which resulted in a cross which Asa Audsley headed home unmarked to give AFC Chickenley the lead. Drighlington continued to compete and were rewarded for their endeavour with a penalty on the stroke of half-time. The penalty was converted and shortly after the restart, the referee called time on the first half.

The second half continued very much in the same tone as the first. It would be a fine strike by Jonny Beverley which would be the difference between the two teams on the day. Tempers frayed in the closing stages and both teams saw a man shown a red card spoiling an otherwise competitive final.

The presentations to players and match officials were made by Heavy Woollen District FA Life Member, Gordon Walsworth.

Thank you to everyone in attendance for their support.
