Match reports for Anfield Floodlit league games played on 11/12/15

Weightmans vs AFC Cronus

Despite of the little cold, conditions were good to play football in the last round before Christmas break. First game of the night started with a Cronus controlling the game for first few minutes, however they weren’t able to be a dangerous to the opponent due to solid back four of the Weightmans. Despite of the less possession, home team was able to make a threat with two attack, but none of them end up with a goal. Eight minutes after first whistle AFC Cronus scored their first goal, after a good combination play ahead of the penalty box with a clever through ball. Shortly after they were winning 2:0 with a powerful strike from a close range. In that moment home players’ were close to score, after great long through ball to the striker, unfortunately for them strike was not able to make a little touch before goalkeeper caught the ball. Before end of the first half AFC Cronus scored their third goal of the day, after good effort by a scorer who stayed on the feet after a tackle in the penalty box and beat the goalkeeper on 1v1 situation. In the half time result was 3:0 for AFC Cronus, however you could hear motivation talks in the Weightmans, who were looking for a first goal, which would give them a extra push. And as they wanted they scored within a minute of the second half, after Cronus’s player lost possession ahead of their penalty box and Weightmans scored with a fantastic strike from 20-25 yards. 1:3! Motivated with the first goal, they were looking for another one, and few minutes after they were attacking the goal in the situation 3v4. Player with the ball run into the penalty box pull left and hit the ball just below the crossbar, 2:3! When home team believed in a good result, AFC Cronus got back to the game with two more goals, especially after first one Weigtmans can be disappointed, as when they were in possession two of their players had a collision where they lost the possession. Player who took the ball, made a few steps and finished with a beautiful long-range strike. In the next couple of minutes both teams were looking for a goal, but they were unable to score. With a few minutes to go, home players didn’t give up and were showing determination to the last second, they managed to score twice, 4:5. With a one minute to go, they were hoping to made a comeback, but in the last second of the game AFC Cronus scored their 6th goal of the day, after a long ball to the striker who stayd onside and who chipped the goalkeeper. Great finish of the great game, final result Weightmans 4:6 AFC Cronus.

AFC Stanley Park vs McMillan Wanderers

After a last week break McMillan Wanderers were pushed from the 1st position in the league, and they were looking to start a Christmas break as a leader. They started the game well with a few attack, but they couldn’t beat the goalkeeper or shot stopped on the crossbar. After 11 minutes they took the lead, after a composure finish. That was the only goal of the first half, however the intensity of the game was really high. Few minutes after start of the second half Stanley Park were very closed to score, after a long ball to the striker who chip the ball over goalkeeper. Ball went wide, but striker was still able to keep the possession, he passed the ball across the goal to his teammate, but defender who made a recovery runs stop the pass and…. hit the post! Still 0:1. Second goal for away team happened after a free kick. Goalkeeper was unable to catch a powerful strike and McMillan’s player followed the rebound and got the dropped ball and put it in the back of the net. With a 10 minutes to go Stanley Park concede another goal after a striker from 20 yards. They were only able to respond with a one goal from a penalty spot, after referee use the whistle after handball. Confident finish, 1:3. In the last dangerous situation McMillan was close to increase the lead, but their shot stopped on the post, which lead to the great counter-attack, but Stanley Park’s striker couldn’t beat the goalkeeper in 1v1 situation. Final result FC Stanley Park 1:3 McMillan Wanderers.

FC Munich vs Lane Ends

Last game in the 2015! FC Munich versus Lane Ends. Whole game was FC Munich show. Across the both half, Lane End were not able to be dangerous to the opponent at any point. Munich score their first goal after 12 minutes, as team captain press the goalkeeper who along with the defender made a silly mistake, and striker scored with a tackle. Few minutes after FC Munich made a great strike from the free kick, but shot stopped on the crossbar. Their second goal of the game was a brilliant individuals effort of the midfielder who maintained the possession in the tight area just outside the box and send a through ball to another midfielder who dribbled two defenders and scored. In the halftime result was 2:0, but it should be more. Very shortly after start of the second part of the game, Munich’s captain scored his second goal, after a great finish from a edge of the box with his left foot. During the next 10-15 minutes FC Munich were unable to score, despite of the many chance. Lane End’s goalkeeper made a few great stops, and because of him result was only 3:0. Munich’s captain was looking for a hattrick after a impressive scorpion kick, unfortunately shot had not enough power to surprise the goalkeeper. Ten minutes before end of the game FC Munich crossed the ball into the penalty area from the right side, Lane End’s defender miss the ball, which went to the home’s player who passed the goalkeeper and scored into the empty goal. Final result FC Munich 4:0 Lane Ends.
