Updates to 3rd September

Reserves League One

It wasn't a good week for Billinge Reserves this week as they sit bottom of the league after two more heavy defeats.

The first coming to Garswood Reserves who took all three points with a 2-1 victory, the second coming as a result of a 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Styal Reserves who, themselves, recorded their first win of the season.

This wasn't the only 7-1 thrashing this week however as Linotype Cheadle HN lost by the same score line at the hands of Knutsford 'A'. The Knutsford goals came via Clayton, Sheldon, Williams X3 and substitute Thompson X2.

The Stockport natives did record one victory this week, a 5-1 win over league leaders Greenalls PSO thanks to goals from Hugo, Thomas and a hat trick from Jordan Thompson.

Greenalls also joined the group of teams with one win and one loss this week as they beat Denton Town 3-1 at the weekend. Garswood and Rylands played out the only draw in the league this week with a thrilling 3-3 affair at Garswood.

The final fixture was Daten v Eagle Sports which saw the away side move ahead of Linotype Cheadle and Denton Town into third place, with a 4-1 victory.

Reserve League Two

There were only five games in Reserve League Two this week, albeit five high scoring ones.

The game between Grappenhall Sports and Golborne Sports saw an astonishing nine goals scored, with all nine going the way of the away team, Golborne.

Middlewich kept their position at the head of the table with a 2-4 victory away at Moore United. AFC Macclesfield won by the same score line away at FC St Helens, a result that leaves Macclesfield just four points off the top with two games to spare. Mersey Valley are hot on the heels of leaders Middlewich with a game in hand as they defeated Pilkington 3-2 at home to bring their tally to twelve points.

The final fixture of the week saw AFC Denton play a very one sided game against joint-bottom side, Malpas.

Neither Malpas nor Grappenhall have recorded victories thus far this season and it's looking to be tough battle at both the top and bottom of the table.
