Arthurian League Rep Team break new ground in match against the Amateur Football Combination
At a packed news conference at the Ritz Hotel, the (perennially beleaguered but always defiant) Arthurian League Representative Team Manager - Nick Evans announced that the next game for the ALRT would be the match against their Amateur Football Combination counterparts on 18th February 2015 at 7.45.
Nick announced that the game would take place at the home of Hendon FC at Silver Jubilee Park - Townsend Lane, London NW9 7NE and pointed out that for the first time in its history, the ALRT would play one of its matches on a (newly refurbished) 3G pitch.
As is his custom, rather than answer questions from the headline hungry media throng - the majority of whom were there simply to ask about his supposedly turbulent relationship with the AL Chairman - the Manager read out a short prepared statement:-
The 3G pitch should aid both teams as both liked to play passing football.
His record spoke for itself and, no, he had nothing whatsoever to prove to the AL Committee or the Chairman.
He (and he alone) would choose the squad and formation best suited for the match irrespective of the fact that sources close to the Chairman had recently revealed his dismay at the current 4-2-3-1 formation (We are the Arthurian League and must play with 2 up front at all times).
No, he wasnt worried that by the fact that given the match was taking place in North London (near to the Chairmans residence) this made it more likely that the Chairman would be in attendance.
