DRAYTON FC RES 4 – 5 COLLYCROFT ROYAL OAK WARRIOR FC
Report by Niall Simmons.
In the sunshine on a superb playing surface at Stockingford Pavilion, DRAYTON RES hit the ground running and deservedly took the lead on 4minutes when Sean Wilson head in a Jake Davis free kick, COLLYCROFT were on the back foot, but pushed forward, Zack Tellyn's shot being smothered by Jake Ball in the DRAYTON goal.
Then on 17minutes DRAYTON doubled their lead when Lewis Commins heads in a Jack Boffin cross. League Champions COLLYCROFT ROYAL OAK settled themselves, Zack Tellyn went close with a fierce drive on 22minutes, before Rhys Hilton found Jarro Scott to tap home from close range after 26minutes.
It was now COLLYCROFT's turn to be on top, and when on the half hour, Konnor Frankum's 25 yard free kick levelled the scores.
The impetus was now with Collycroft and just before the brake, Zack Tellyn steals the ball from the DRAYTON defence and coolly puts the ball into the net. But wait a moment from the restart DRAYTON when Lewis Commins is tripped in the area, Penalty !! Jack Bonnell slots it home 3-3.
Half Time
Drayton FC Res 3 - 3 Collycroft Royal Oak FC
Which way will this go ? on 48minutes COLLYCROFT edged in front with a Daniel Cassidy tap in from a Daniel Monger corner.
COLLYCROFT had increased the pace and looked to have secured victory when after 52minutes when a Zach Tellyn free kick in the DRAYTON half falls to the feet of Sean Willis to put his team 5-3 in front
The pace is relenting, Sean Willis goes close on the hour mark, good save from Jake Bull, the ball drops to Rhys Hilton who fires over. It is now all Collycroft, but excellent Jake Bull keeps DRAYTON's hopes alive.
Then as the game enters the last 2 minutes, they have a lifeline, when a cross is directed in for a own goal.
That's it the final whistle, and exhilarating and exciting game, a joy to watch and well controlled by referee Sean Divitt and assistants, Ashley Bonner and Florin Condrus
Thanks go to Stockingford Pavilion and Dave Meuse for the use of the EXCELLENT Stadium.
Also a BIG thankyou to our Sponsors - SCREAM ENTERTAINMENTS and Darren Pemberton.
