BARWELL CRICKETERS FC 2-2 LEICESTER BHARAT FC
Leicester Bharat FC won 4-2 on Penalties
Barwell Cricketers took on Leicester Bharat SLF in the Westaby Leicestershire Intermediate Sunday Trophy on Tuesday evening.
In a fast paced game at Holmes Park, Barwell Cricketers saw chances for Cam Atkinson and Tom Manghan come and go before falling behind to a bullet header from a corner.
That didn’t stop the attacking intent from Cricketers though and just before the interval, James Graham sent in a dangerous free kick which was met with a powerful header from Matt Pratt. Manghan and Pratt had half chances early in the second half but it was Bharat who again struck from a corner with another bullet header to regain the lead.
Atkinson had a great effort brilliantly kept out by the Bharat keeper. He didn’t have to wait long for his goal though as 9 minutes later a shot was blocked by a Bharat defender and the lose ball fell to Atkinson who this time made no mistake, 2-2, both teams pushed for a winner but the game finished all square.
Bharat took the contest 4-2 on penalties but Cricketers can be proud of the effort they’ve put in throughout the entire competition.
