About the Smedley Crooke Memorial Charity Cup

The Smedley Crooke Memorial Charity Trophy is a knock-out cup competition affiliated to Worcestershire Football Association. It was first competed for in1919 and won by Rubery St. Chads. The magnificent trophy was donated by the late Sir Smedley Crooke MP and dedicated to the memory of the local sportsmen lost in the 1914-1918 World war.

The Competition currently invites entries from football clubs in the Birmingham/ Worcestershire area, predominantly from the Midland Football Combination and West Midland (Regional) Football League.

The Smedley Crooke Competition has raised money for local charities, namely The Midland Air Ambulance, Primrose Hospice, Friends of Princess of Wales Community Hospital and Mercia Accident Rescue Service.

Sir John Smedley Crooke (1861-1951) was a Conservative MP for Birmingham Deritend 1922-29 and then from 1931-45.
