Report for Week Ending Saturday 19.10.2019

It was a day of away victories this week as only one of the six scheduled matches that produced a total of forty five goals, ended in a home victory. That was for fifth placed Langham Lodgers, who returning to League action entertained the fourth from bottom side Ramsey & Mistley Reserves at Langham Community Centre and finished with a 6-2 home win. On the Langham score sheet were Barry Sage and Daniel Stevens with doubles apiece plus efforts from Kenny Dilloway and James Whitnell. Another match that produced eight goals was at the Glebe where second placed Ramsey & Mistley 1st team visited fifth from bottom Mersea Island Reserves, and left with the points in a 5-3 victory. The three target men for Mersea were Billy Millar, Sean walker and substitute Kai Mitchell.

There were nine goals at mid table Parkeston Welfare Park, where visitors Oyster Reserves also left with the points and an 8-1 victory. Oyster were 4-1 up at the break before adding a further four goals in the second half. Daniel Rampton led the way with four goals and their other four came from Dominic Mosses, Owen Stedman, Ethan Ward and substitute Ryan Christian. The scorer of the Parkeston consolation goal was Daniel Tweed.

The other two matches were also away victories; the third against top game with third placed Abbey Fields entertaining leaders Sporting Rebels at Birch Park, finished 4-2 to the leaders. Joe Durbridge was the target man for Abbey with a brace. Stoke by Nayland travelled to the Victory Ground at Tollesbury to take on Tollesbury Reserves, and came away the 3-1 winners. Netting the Tollesbury effort was Ben Frost; for Stoke it was Liam Druce and Keaz Kadar with a double. Bottom side Stanway Athletic visited Tiptree Engaine ‘A’ in a match played at the Thurstable Sports Centre in Tiptree, and picked up their first victory of the season, winning 6-4 in a ten goal thriller. The match produced the weeks highest aggregate score and was expected as prior to today’s game both of these sides had conceded the most goals in the League this season, a total of seventy goals.
