Report for Week Ending Saturday 05.10.2019

The two outstanding Amos Cup First Round games were both scheduled this week; the replayed game from last week that had to be abandoned, between Ramsey & Mistley Reserves and Oyster Reserves, the other between Tiptree Engaine ‘A’ against Langham Lodgers. Leading 1-0 at the break Oyster went on to win the former 2-1, with goals from Ryan Christian and Ashley Jackson. On the Ramsey score sheet was Liam Winter However, the other between Tiptree Engaine ‘A’ and Langham Lodgers was lost on Saturday morning as the pitch was unfit,

On the League front, leaders Sporting Rebels hosted Tollesbury Reserves in a match played at the Clacton Coastal Academy, and recorded a 7-1 victory with Louis Pipe netting the Tollesbury consolation effort. Increasing their lead at the top of the table to two points, Sporting maintained their 100% start, as second placed Ramsey & Mistley 1st team who were visiting mid table Stoke by Nayland went down by a 4-3 score line. Ramsey were leading 3-1 at the break but Stoke roared back to win 4-3 with goals from Louis Dadds, Steve Brewer and a brace from Liam Druce. Abbey Fields who were third at the start of the day now move above Ramsey into second recording the days highest score with a 10-1 thrashing of bottom side Stanway Athletic Reserves at Birch Park. Joseph Durbridge led the way for Abbey with five goals, Donnell Henry with a double, and efforts from Terry Cave, Peter Harvey and Scott Mason made up their ten goals. The other scheduled game which was between Parkeston Welfare Park who were due to host Mersea Island Reserves in a mid table clash, was postponed on Friday as the Welfare Park pitch was another that proved to be unplayable.
