Matchday Report for Saturday 23.11.2019

Matchday Report

This week we had three League games and the two remaining Amos Cup Quarter Final games.

On the League front second placed Sporting Rebels were looking to go back to the top as they hosted fifth placed Langham Lodgers, however it was the fifth placed team that left with the points and a 4-3 victory. Fourth placed Oyster Reserves looking to go third entertained mid table Ramsey & Mistley Reserves, and won by the odd goal in five, ending the 3-2 victors after leading 2-1 at the break. On their score sheet was Owen Stedman with a double and an own goal. The other League game saw Tiptree Engaine ‘A’ hosting Mersea Island Reserves. Both teams were level on points at the start of the match but the Mersea side boasted a far superior goal difference, but in another tight game it was the home side Tiptree Engaine ‘A’ who emerged with a very welcome three points in another 3-2 victory. Daniel Reader netted the two Mersea goals, whilst the Tiptree scorers were Matthew Gregory, Thomas Chapman and Luke Webb.

The two Cup games featured the League leaders, Ramsey & Mistley 1st Team taking on bottom side Stanway Athletic Reserves, and the League leaders duly obliged winning through by a 6-0. The other game saw Stoke by Nayland taking on Tollesbury Reserves in a game that saw nine goals, but it was the home side that booked their Semi-Final spot where they will play the winner of the other Cup game played today Ramsey & Mistley 1st Team. Tollesbury were leading 4-2 at the break, but three second half goals ensured the Stoke by Nayland victory. On their score sheet, it was Liam Druce with a brace, James Crane, Chris Marshall and opposition own goal.
