It was a good day for all the strugglers except INGLES who, despite taking a 15th minute lead through Daniel Tuck couldn’t contain a strong EASTWOOD COMMUNITY side who levelled on half an hour through Sam Moore and then took the points with second half goals from Kieran Knight and Gareth Curtis.
Meanwhile, TEVERSAL were enjoying success for the first time this season courtesy of a second minute own goal from Adam Burton which gave them the narrowest of wins against visiting DUNKIRK. But, as the saying goes, they all count.
And it was a first three points of the season also for BARROW TOWN who entertained RADFORD at the Riverside. Jack Cockram put them ahead five minutes before the interval, but almost immediately after the restart Joe Meakin had restored parity. However, home joy prevailed when Kurtes Whyte struck a Barrow winner with five minutes left.
It was also a reasonably happy afternoon for BORROWASH VICTORIA, who appear to be putting most of last season’s dismal fare behind them. They brought a point back from their visit to SHIREBROOK TOWN. Connor Roberts put the Vics in front on 14 minutes but Luke Manlove levelled six minutes later and that’s how it stayed until the end.
The points were also shared at The Lido where CLIPSTONE and GEDLING MINERS WELFARE also scored once each, but this time the goals both came in the second half. Jack Warwick struck first for Clipstone three minutes into the second period and Courtney Hastings levelled on 72.
It was also stalemate at OLLERTON TOWN who dropped their first points since becoming an East Midlands Counties League club when Kyle Stovell hit an 88th minute equaliser for CLIFTON ALL WHITES. Gav King had given Ollerton the best possible start with a goal on four minutes, but Ryan Smith levelled thirteen minutes later and it stayed like that until Sam Stretton gave the table toppers the advantage again on 68. But it was down to second place for the home side when Stovell struck with his late leveller.
Six out of six though for SHERWOOD COLLIERY who are now the league’s clear leaders having comprehensively dismissed form side BELPER UNITED at Bridge Street to the tune of five goals without reply. Kieran Wells led the onslaught with a brace of goals inside the first twenty five minutes, added to quickly by one from Tim Gregory. Ethan Wiesztort put the visitors into four goal heaven by the break and Liam West completed the 5-0 victory with his second half strike.
RAINWORTH MINERS WELFARE kept up their challenge for a place in the new Step 6 division next season with a 2-0 win at WEST BRIDGFORD courtesy of goals from Kane Hempsall in the 14th minute and a last minute Craig Mitchell strike to claim all three points.
For the second season running HEANOR TOWN were 1-0 winners at HUCKNALL TOWN. This time a Lewis Weaver goal ten minutes from the end did the trick as the Lions prove to be the Jeckyll & Hyde side of the league this season.
