This week saw a full set of fixtures played with 58 goals being score!

Match 1

Gilbertti Fun Squad – 7 Rob Durgut 1, Nathan Nicholls 3, Calum Nicholson 3

Purple Haze - 5 Adam Castlehouse 1, Jamie Salter 1, Jason Smith 2, Jason Trotter 1

A second half penalty from Purple Haze was not enough as impressive GFS quick attacking play secured them their first victory in a highly entertaining encounter with the hard working Purple Haze. GFS looked a far stronger compared to previous weeks, were clinical in the opening five minutes and with two stunning finishes quickly found themselves 2-0 up. Though as in previous weeks Haze worked tirelessly and a well worked move allowed them back in the game 2-1. Followed by a stunning left footed volley the scores were equal at 2-2. Excellent feet from GFS leads to a shot from the wing squeezing in 3-2. GFS put pressure on the GK and he spills, easy tap in 4-2. Haze secure a well-deserved goal just before half time to ensure a thrilling end to the first half 4-3. FC Haze come out a different team and quickly secure a equaliser 4-4. Fun squads quality comes through in the second half and score x2 in quick succession, dominating parts of the play 6-4. Fun Squad continue to apply the pressure and score an impressive top corner finish to make it 7-4. Persistent fowling results in a penalty for Haze who make it 7-5. Haze and Fun Squad both played their parts in an exciting Futsal fives match, a pleasure to watch played in good spirits.

Match 2

Wrong Direction - 15 Andy Banfield 2, Ben Beer 4, Ben Frier 2, Joshua Keith 3, Nick Pain 1, Gavin Seymour 3

FC Stampdoria - 4 Adam Middleton 1, Dave Palmer 2, Dave Smith
Wrong Direction climbed to joint top of the league with a stunning 40 minutes of football dominating the game from start to finish. FC Stampdoria who made their league debuts, will be looking to turn things around in weeks to come and showed signs of competing in the league with some impressive Futsal. Wrong direction started off rapidly and were 7-0 up within 10 minutes with a fine display of attacking, positive intelligent football along with quality finishing. Stampdoria worked really hard even though the result was getting away from them and got a consolation 7-1. A goal from either team made it 8-2 before half time. Wrong Direction's slack defending resulted in Stampdoria getting a quick goal after half time 8-3. Wrong direction picked up the pace and scored a superb effort 9-3. Calm and collective finishing along with constant pressure allowed Wrong Direction to score 5 in the space of 7 minutes 14-3. Breath taking Futsal. But a lapse in concentration from Wrong Direction GK who came rushing out the box to miss a header allows Stampdoria to get a consolation goal 14-4. Wrong Direction quickly take control and score a great team goal starting from their own half to emphatically win the game 15-4 and maintain their impressive start.


Match 3

FC Furia Roja - 11 Ian Cochram 1, James Cole 1, Toby Phillips 1, Adam Rees 3, Santiago Rodriguez 2, Feremo 1, Mark Wiggins 1

Wasteman Elite - 4

Roja continued their impressive start to the season, maintaining their position at the top of the league with a hard fought win over the ever improving Elite. Some of Roja’s squad had been competing in BUC’S that day so were missing but they still managed to fill the subs bench. And Wasteman had made a few new signings and were impressive with their best performance in the competition so far. A frantic first minute ensues allowing both teams to pressure each other making it 1-1. Roja skilfully round the GK 2-1. Roja take advantage of some bad GK and bury it bottom corner 3-1. A string of calamitous mistake by the Roja’s stand in GK allows Elite back into the game3-2 then 3-3. Roja’s dominance and attacking play pays off with two well taking goals before half time 5-3. Roja come out in the second half full of confidence and an impressive team goal started from the GK ensures they go 5-3 up. A excellent interplay from the side-line results in a great finish from the cross 6-3. Roja’s discipline gets the better of them and are penalised for persistent fowling which results in a penalty 6-4. Roja go on to clinically put the result away with four goals in the last two minutes with some impressive Futsal skills. 10-4. Great match, with the ever improving Elite impressing weekly. Roja go top.

Match 4

Just Play - 4 Luis Andrade 2, James Ghillyer 1, Ryan Jeram 1

UCP Marjon - 8 Matt Clements 1, Jonny Ellis 1, Charlie Gordon 1, Josh Owen 3, Matthew Spencer 1, Shaun Wingrove 1

Marjon continued their competitive start to the FA Futsal Fives League with a challenging win over Just Play, which has put them in good stead to challenge for the title. It wasn't one-way though, and they had to over-come an impressive Just Play team who only had 5 players. Just Play took the lead with some neat football in the first few minutes and went 1-0 up. Marjon battled hard but could not get past the on-form stand in GK of Play. After some impressive football by Marjon they finished clinically with a swift move from the wing 1-1. Marjon scored twice in quick succession to make it 3-1. But Just Play were consistent with their attacking and a long ball from the GK was brought down and volleyed in 3-2. Marjon scored just before half time to make it 4-2. Just Play looked tired when they come out and Marjon capitalised with a great move from the back 5-2. This was followed by a long ball and outstanding volley 6-2. Just Play were impressive in their moves and created numerous chances before clinically finishing from outside the area 6-3. Marjon created good space to carve open a tired looking defence 7-3. Just Play would not give up though and battled hard in the middle of the pitch to pick out the over lapping defender 7-4. Marjon scored late on to secure a closely thought match. 4-8
