District League Report January 27th

Grange Moor Saints bowed out at the semi-final stage of the Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA Challenge Trophy losing 3-2 to Wickersley Old Village Vets.

Wickersley, from the Wragg Football League Premier Division, who are unbeaten in all competitions this season had prolific scorer Scott Hartley to thank for his hattrick. Cameron Wilkey scored in each half for the Saints.

Berry Brow went nine points clear at the top of the Premier Division following their 6-2 win over Slaithwaite United. Scorers for the Brow were Niall Dobson (two), Luke Gibson, Lawal Lawal, Daniel Facey and Kyle Walton. Ashley Beardsall and James Edwards scored for Slowit. Linthwaite Athletic played their first League game in 3 months and comfortably beat Deighton 6-0 with a Jacob Waterson hattrick and goals from Jake Morley, Max Morley and Ernest Boafo. Linthwaite preserve their 100% league record and move up to second place. Jordan Saville and James Jennings scored for Holmbridge in their 2-0 win over AFC Lindley. Kirkheaton Rovers beat Britannia Sports 3-2 with goals from Ben Hallitt (two) and Luke Walker, with Seb Avery and Chris Fowler scoring for Britannia. Michael Carter and Alex Vickerman scored for Netherton in their 2-1 win over Newsome. Doran Jordan scoring for Newsome.

Shaun Roscoe scored twice as Division 1 leaders Saddleworth United drew with Skelmanthorpe 2-2. Keenan Davies-Mosley and Ben Dyson scored for Shat. Huddersfield Laund Hill are second place following their 3-1 win at Lepton Highlanders with goals from Joe Hardcastle, Zach Nash and Niall Joseph. Tom Wadsworth scored for the Highlanders. Ryan Beech and Jason Evans scored as Moorside beat neighbours Diggle 2-0 to stay in third place. Fothergill & Whittles moved off the bottom of the table with a 3-0 win over Holme Valley Academicals with goals from Dion Latham, Tyler Kershaw and Jake Wilkinson. Honley move up to fourth with a 2-0 win over Scissett.

In Division 2 Meltham Athletic are second following their narrow 3-2 win over Netherton Reserves. Jack Ellis-Pownall (two) and Thomas Matthews scoring for Meltham and James McCrystal and Thomas Yarwood scoring for Netherton. Will Kilner and James Earnshaw scored as Cumberworth drew 2-2 with Linthwaite Athletic Reserves. Newsome Reserves with goals from Chris Bedeau, Levi Maturine and Brenton Williams beat Brighouse Athletic 3-1. Dominic Botchway, Immanuel Makaure and Javan Allison scored as Deighton Reserves beat Wooldale Wanderers 3-2.

Danny Phillips, James Allison and Kieran Mannifield scored for Skelmanthorpe Reserves in their 3-1 win over Meltham Athletic Reserves which keeps them top of Division 3 on goal difference. Malaki Cronie scoring for Meltham. Berry Brow A are second following their 8-4 win over bottom club Mount. Sam Dawson scoring a hattrick for Mount. Slaithwaite United Reserves stay in third place despite their 3-0 defeat at home to Heywood Irish Centre. Adam Lyons (two) and Luke Stead scoring for Heywoods who are fourth. James Castle, Ben Womack, Nick Spurr (two) and Finlay Price scored as Britannia Sports Reserves beat Hade Edge 5-1. Lewis Barden scoring for the Edge. Holmfirth Town beat AFC Lindley Reserves 4-2 with goals from Carlos Correia, Chris Valentine, Adam Williams and Austen Bedeau.

In Division 4 Kirkheaton Rovers stay top of the table following their 4-1 win over Diggle Reserves with goals from Callum Chima (two), Michael Calvert and Matthew Stephenson. Cumberworth Reserves stay in third place after their 2-2 draw with Berry Brow B. Shelden Rogers and David Turner scoring for Cumberworth and Daniel Garton and Coby Taylor-Stead scoring for the Brow. Stefan Anastasi scored for Netherton A in their 1-1 draw with Wooldale Wanderers Reserves. Scissett Reserves beat Grange Moor Saints Reserves 2-0 with goals from Jay Beaumont and Jonathan Humphries.

Allerton stay in second place in Division 5 following their 7-4 win over Cumberworth A with goals from Umais Khan (two), Adam Khan, Mohammed Ibrahaim (two) and Sahil Mahmood (two). Danny Simpson scored as Skelmanthorpe A drew 1-1 with Almondbury Woolpack Reserves with Quincy Acquah scoring for the Woolpack. Sam Hillhouse hit a hattrick for Britannia Sports A in their 5-2 win over Hade Edge Development. Adam Parr and Leon Prince also scoring for Britannia with Edward and John Dalton scoring for the Edge.
