Setting the tone for the FA Cup Final which followed, on a blazing hot day it took 120 energy sapping, goal-less minutes and 20 penalties before Christ Church East Greenwich eventually overcame Hayes Ambassadors in this season's Mike Laxton Cup Final
Having missed two previous opportunities to win the game, Christ Church eventually were grateful to last-minute replacement Nassos Stylianou, whose penalty went in off the underside of the crossbar to clinch victory in a well-fought, end-to-end game which neither side deserved to lose.
The 2022/23 edition of the League’s Fantasy Premier League turned out to extremely competitive, eventually decided by a single point, with last season’s runner-up, Sam Bastable, formerly of Emmanuel Lightning, going one better with his team ABCDE FC.
