Week Ending 5th May

SILEBY TOWN RES had a big hand in SAFFRON DYNAMO RES winning the CITY GOLDSMITH TITLE when they defeated ALLEXTON & NEW PARKS DEV SQUAD in midweek 3-2. Ford Taylor and Parees Bhima gave the Town a 2-1 half time lead with Jason Newbold getting the all important 3rd goal in the 2nd half. Tom Wood and Pele Molyneaux helped the ring rusty Parks make a fist of it, but in the end they had to concede the championship. The win left the Town in the third and final sponsored placing needing 1 point from their last 2 games to confirm. At the weekend COTTESMORE AMATEURS RES ended a poor run of 3 defeats with a 3-1 defeat of DESFORD DEVELOPEMENT SQUAD which gave Sileby the 3rd spot. The Rutlanders finished in mid table after Jamie Hunt and Harry Greenshields gave them a 2-0 half time advantage which was added to in the 2nd half by Craig McJanet. Lochlan Murray replied for Desford who have to settle for a possible 4th spot.
What a difference a few days can make as ALLEXTON & NEW PARKS roared into the CITY GOLDSMITH TROPHY final with a 4-0 defeat of their midweek conquerors SILEBY TOWN RES. Pele Molyneaux and Tom Wood were once more on target, added to by Layton Goodwin and sub Jamie Richardson.
They will meet INGLES RES in the final, at BIRSTALL UTD on 15th May, after they defeated champions SAFFRON DYNAMO RES 2-1. Sam Mott and Tyler Withers scored a goal in each half to take the tie after being level 1-1 at the break.
