Report for Week Ending Saturday 09.11.2019

It was back to League action this week, however both of the top two teams Ramsey & Mistley 1st team and Sporting Rebels were without a game, so it was a chance for Abbey Fields who were third, and Oyster Reserves in fourth to close the gap on the top two.

Abbey Fields were away at mid table Stoke by Nayland and came away with the points in a 5-3 victory after leading 4-0 at the break. On the Stoke scoresheet were Liam Druce with a brace and Stephen Robertson. Oyster Reserves however, hosting second from bottom side Stanway Athletic Reserves were held to a 4-4 draw. In a game of two halves, Oyster were leading 4-0 at the break with goals from Ryan Christian, Dominic Mosses and a Daniel Rampton double, before four second half strikes gave Stanway a share of the points.

Langham Lodgers who were fifth visited Ramsey & Mistley Reserves and in another away victory won 7-2. On the Langham score sheet were hat tricks for James Whitnell and Barry Sage, with one of his goals being a penalty, and an effort from Steven Whitnell. Elsewhere, Parkeston Welfare Park entertained Mersea Island Reserves, and found themselves 2-0 down at the break despite having the majority of the play. They were undone by balls over the top of the defence, the first in the twenty eighth minute when Byron Higgins turned home following a save from the Parkeston keeper, and the second seven minutes later cutting in from the left to score. Mersea went 3-0 up eight minutes after the restart when Daniel Reader picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and was given time and space to slot home. Parkeston did get a goal back on fifty eight minutes when Jamie Cook followed up his own header that rebounded of the bar to net. Mersea had further chance to increase their lead but failed to trouble the score line any further running out the 3-1 away victors.

The other game between Tiptree Engaine ‘A’ and bottom side Tollesbury Reserves ended in yet another away win with Tollesbury picking up their first League victory season, coming away the 6-2 victors with Lewis Biggs, Nathan Biggs, Louis Pipe, Ben Frost, Reece Willmott and Lewis Ponder on their scoresheet.
