The Leicester Fencing Trophy produces shocks.

In midweek the div2 sides turned the form book upside down in the Leicester Fencing Trophy with Anstey Nomads causing the biggest upset with a 2-3 away win at run away, and champions elect, Barrow Town after Lloyd Murning netted a pair. Holders Ellistown came from 0-2 down at home to pip Lutterworth Athletic 3-2, scoring the winner in injury time and Holwell Sports netted a 2nd half winner in their 1-0 defeat of top 6 placed Kirby Muxloe. St Andrews remain the only div1 side after they eased past Sileby Town 1-2.

On the league front Barrow Town continued towards the championship with a 0-2 away win at Ratby Sports after Dave Coleman netted in each half and Birstall Utd kept up their slender hopes of the runners up spot after Lewis Parker netted a pair in their 1-4 away win at Sileby Town.

Blaby and Whetstone Athletic stayed in the top 3 frame with a 3-1 defeat of Ibstock Utd after Gareth Seal netted a 2nd half double whilst Thurmaston Town made it 2 wins on the spin with a 1-0 defeat of Kirby Muxloe.

Anstey Town completed the all winning top 5 with a 0-3 away win at Rothley Imps after Rich Kirk netted a brace. Leicestershire Constabulary had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw at Highfield Rangers whilst a 2nd half penalty settled the clash at Lutterworth Athletic as St Andrews took the 3 points wit a 0-1 away win.
