Championship starting to hot up

Bardon Hill Sports closed in on Div2 leaders Aylestone Park after they were held at Belgrave and Bardon posted their 3rd successive victory. Aylestone led a 0-2 half time lead, gained through Jake Limbert and Matt Rudkin, when Belgrave came back with goals from Stuart Kopaszel and Russ Bakewell to remain unbeaten in their last 5 starts. Bardon Hill had an early kick off against Caterpillar and made it count with a 2-0 victory after Dan Favaro and Martyn Staley netted the 2nd half goals to move Bardon within 4 points with 2 games in hand. Highfield Rangers were surprisingly held to 0-0 draw at Lutterworth Town and Desford swept St Andrews aside 6-1 to stand 19 points off the pace with 7 games in hand after Nico Anmbrose-2, Ellis Benjamin-2, Wayne Calver and Louis Gough gave Desford their 3rd win on the spin. Ash Ward replied for the Andrews who dipped to their 2nd successive defeat and Barlestone St Giles kept their hopes alive with a 2-4 away win at Hathern. Ian Heath and Chris Belton scored a goal in each half for Hathern whilst Joel Storer netted in the 1st half goal for Barlestone and Christian Holland netted a 2nd half hat trick for Barlestone. Dunton & Broughton Rangers posted back to back wins over Narborough & Littlethorpe to move away from the wooden spoon. Their 1-3 away win was posted with goals from Steve West, Russ Hill and Andy Smith whilst Nick Dobbs netted the 1st half goal for Narborough.
